Our Stitchdown Collection is masterfully crafted in England by hand - From start to finish. The Grove Desert Shoe is a four-eyelet design with derby lace-up construction and a natural crepe which is extremely hardwearing and also lightweight and very comfortable. The upper is made from English tanned Janus calf suede from the world famous Charles F Stead tannery in Leeds, UK. Janus calf suede displays an unrivalled soft, premium nap whilst still retaining high levels of durability. Internally, the shoe is unlined as the suede upper is moss backed which increases wearer comfort. The footbed is traditionally half-lined with natural leather and a soft, cushioned heel pad. The Grove Desert Shoe goes through several complex and skilled processes before completion and none more important than the stitchdown welting stage. This process uses a Number 10 sole stitcher - an integral machine used in making traditional Northampton shoes and boots. Furthermore, this provides the bold stitching used to secure the natural crepe sole and the technique also ensures the shoes are strong and flexible.
